Every number on Insitive traces back to a named public dataset. This page lists each source, its publisher and its licence — the same provenance our API returns on every response.
Authoritative rules vs conservative estimates
Planning results (setbacks, height limits, buildable envelopes) carry per-boundary provenance: each value names the exact rule that produced it — a state planning scheme clause, a local zone schedule, or a database provision with its regulation reference.
EstimatedWhen no matching regulation exists for a zone, we apply a conservative residential default instead of guessing — and flag the result as an estimate in the app (amber badge) and in the API (appliedRules entries with rule conservative-fallback). Estimated values are deliberately cautious; always confirm with the local council before relying on them.
We never invent numeric confidence scores. Provenance is categorical and auditable: a value is either backed by a named regulation or explicitly marked as a conservative default.
